Adelaide’s Sustainable Clothing Co. is hosting an exclusive ‘Slow Fashion September’ Clothes Swap, with your chance to win a $150 sustainable raffle prize, simply by attending September’s swap!
Swapping your clothing is the antidote to fast fashion as it promotes the reduction, reuse, and recycling of clothing! Large organizations often end up discarding most of their clothing donations into landfill, but at Sustainable Clothing Co. nothing goes to waste.
HOW IT WORKS:
Simply gather a minimum of 10 pieces of clothing which are in good, wearable condition (the more you bring along the better!) with $5 for entry into the Big Blue Shed at 230-232 Flinders Street, between 11am-6pm, and pick up some new-to-you clothing to take home. The number of items you bring in is the same number of items you can take home. If you would like to take any additional items home, please ask our staff on the day.
At the end of the swap, the majority of the remaining clothing will be donated to Mosh On Youth Centre, a mental health and suicide awareness and prevention initiative, located in Thebarton. Items deemed unfit for resale will be donated to Southern Cross Recycling (SCR Group), who process unwanted fabrics into industrial rags, insulation, pet bedding etc.
Accepted items for swapping are both ladies and men’s clothing, including:
Tops, t-shirts, pants, jackets, sweaters, dresses, skirts, shirts, blouses, crop tops, bralettes, leather, denim, knitwear, blazers, coats, shorts, bodysuits, play-suits, jumpsuits, vests, leggings, sportswear, hats, bags, purses, shoes, jewelry, scarves and belts.
Item which are excluded from this event include formal wear, underwear, socks, babies clothing and children’s wear.
*Please note, the clothes swap is not a dumping ground for stained, ripped, unwearable clothing. Ask us how we can recycle your damaged goods and consider bringing items to the swap that you would give to family and friends.
